Matric Result Release Date 2023 & Re-marking/ re-checking Examination Scripts

 

When are 2023 Matric results being released?

The 2023 National Senior Certificate examinations officially ended on 6 December 2023. The minister of education, Mrs Angie Motshekga, will officially announce the outcome of the examinations on 18 January 2024, with Matric results being released to students on 19 January 2024.

It is important to note that there are many examinations for the Department of Education to filter through, and that some results may not be reviewed due to technical difficulties.
 

Where to get your 2023 Matric Results

Results will be available on the Department of Basic Education website, from 06h00. Students will be requested to enter their exam number and ID number.

Students are also encouraged to get their statement of results from their school/ centre where they wrote their examinations.
 

Re-marking/ re-checking your Matric examination script

To qualify for a re-mark/ re-check, you need to ensure that you are registered on the e-Gov portal. To do so, visit www.eservices.gov.za to create your personal account; with this account, you will be able to login using your password and username to access the service. Should you already have an account, or have made use of the online e-Registration service in the past, you will not need to complete this step.

However, should you already have an account, you will need to use those same account details to access the e-Gov portal.
 

How to complete the process of applying for the re-marking/ re-checking of you examination script

Step 1: Open e-Gov on your internet browser www.eservices.gov.za
Step 2: Begin the registration process by entering your ID number and personal information.
Step 3: You will then receive a One Time Pin (OTP) to complete the registration process
Step 4: Should you already have an account, skip steps 2 and 3
Step 5: Log in using your username and the password you created when registering
Step 6: Select the “e-Re-Mark/ Re-Check” service from the “available services”
Step 7: You will then receive an OTP; use this to confirm access to the “e-Re-Mark/ Re-Check” service
Step 8: Select the subjects you want to enter to be re-marked/ re-checked
Step 9: Be sure to accept the declaration by confirming that the information you entered is accurate
Step 10: You will then receive correspondence on the status of your request via email
Step 11: Once the steps are complete, you will then be able to receive and print your result letter

Who can I contact if I have a question?

Should students have any queries related to their results, they have the right to submit a result query for investigation within 30 days after the release of their results. It is vital that the student ensures their name and identity numbers are correct, reflecting correctly on both their application for a re-mark/ re-check and statements of results. The student may then report any corrections they may require to the Department before 21 February 2024.
 

Some important things to note

  • Additional information about this process can also be found on the reverse side of the Statement of Results.
  • The closing date for both manual and online applications are 2 February 2024.
  • The results of re-marking will be released from 15 March 2024, and be available at the school/ exam hall where you wrote your 2023 NSC November examinations.
  • Costs involved: Re-mark is R120, Re-check is R29 and Viewing your script is R234.
  • Full-time learners who are registered at no-fee schools may apply to have their 2023 NSC scripts re-marked/ re-checked at no cost.
  • Scripts may only be viewed after a re-mark/ re-check of results has been completed.
  • Application closing dates are 7 days after the release of re-mark/ re-check results.
