WHAT ARE THE ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA FOR THE DIGBY WELLS BURSARY?

Applicants must satisfy the following minimum entry criteria before applying (please note that failure to satisfy all the requirements will lead to your application not being considered):

  • You must be a South African citizen
  • You must be currently in Matric or have completed Matric
  • You must be studying or intend on studying full-time, towards an Undergraduate or Postgraduate qualification within one of the fields listed above
  • You must be enrolled or intend on enrolling to study at a recognised tertiary institution in South Africa
  • Undergraduate studies: you must have achieved the following minimum results in Matric:
    • a minimum of 60% for Mathematics
    • a minimum of 60% for English
    • a minimum overall average of 65%
  • Postgraduate studies: you must have achieved a minimum overall average of 65%
  • You must have a strong academic record and be dedicated to your studies
  • You must be passionate about environmental sustainability
  • You must have a strong sense of responsibility and commitment to contributing to society and the environment

The company provides a range of specialist services, including environmental management, social and heritage consulting, rehabilitation and mine closure, soils, water and geosciences, and renewable energy.

Established in 1995 by three environmental management specialists formerly associated with Rand Mines, the company was named in honour of the late Digby Wells, a prominent figure in South African environmental management.
