ABOUT THE SCHOLARSHIP PROVIDER – INSCAPE

Inscape Education Group is a Non‐Profit Company and is South Africa’s oldest privately-owned multi-disciplinary creative arts institution. The institution is registered with the Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET), and has been providing accredited courses (degrees, diplomas and higher certificates) within the creative sector and built environment, for more than 3 decades. Students have the option to study at an of the campuses in South Africa (located in Cape Town, Stellenbosch, Pretoria, Midrand and Durban), in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, as well as via distance or online learning.

The Inscape Scholarship Programme was established in 2014 and since it was formed, it has awarded over R11 million worth of scholarship funding.
 

ABOUT THE INSCAPE SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAMME – FIELDS COVERED

Inscape is inviting students to apply for their scholarship programme, for the 2024 academic year.

Scholarships will be awarded for Postgraduate studies, towards a Bachelor of Arts Honours in Design (NQF level 8), at Inscape (SAQA ID: 105124). (Find out more about the BA Honours in Design at Inscape here).

ABOUT THE INSCAPE SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAMME – COVERAGE & OBLIGATIONS

Inscape will award full or partial scholarships per the legislated minimum requirements of the programme and entrance requirements of the institution.

During the 2024 academic year, scholars will be required to act as a teaching assistant, with a workload of 4 hours per week. This is not paid work, but performance will be considered in terms of meeting the scholarship requirements.

After graduation, scholarship recipients may be able to join the Inscape team. They will also be required to lecture in a programme that they are qualified to facilitate or work for Inscape in an appropriate department for a period of two years.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS FOR THE INSCAPE SCHOLARSHIP

Applicants must satisfy the following minimum entry criteria before applying (please note that failure to satisfy all the requirements will lead to your application not being considered):

  • You must be a South African citizen
  • You must intend on studying at Inscape in 2024
  • You must intend on studying full time towards a Bachelor of Arts Honours in Design (NQF level 8) | SAQA ID: 105124
  • You must meet the entrance criteria for the programme: you must have completed an NQF level 7 qualification in an appropriate design discipline with an average of 60% for the final year of study
  • You must be committed to a future academic career in lecturing
  • You must have a strong academic record

 

HOW TO APPLY FOR THE INSCAPE SCHOLARSHIP

Students who meet all of the above criteria can apply by submitting clear copies of the following documentation (the submission of these documents is compulsory – if any items are missing, your application may be disqualified):

  • Most recent academic report or final transcript
  • Curriculum Vitae
  • Motivational letter outlining your initial proposal and intention for a final project (max 1500 words) (example: exploring how illustration can be used in health awareness poster design, or How decolonisation has influenced fashion design)

Note: there is no application form to be completed for this bursary application – students need only submit the list of above documents to apply.
