ABOUT THE LEARNERSHIP PROVIDER – MPUMALANGA DEPT OF PUBLIC WORKS

The Mpumalanga Department of Public Works, Roads and Transport is a department of the government of South Africa. The department is committed to providing an integrated, reliable and cost-effective transport system that meets the development needs of the province, and to deliver infrastructure that promotes sustainable economic development and job creation.
 

ABOUT THE MPUMALANGA DEPT OF PUBLIC WORKS LEARNERSHIP PROGRAMME

The Mpumalanga Department of Public Works, Roads and Transport invites candidates to apply for their learnership programme and short skills programme.

The Department is offering 5 programmes, which will train a total of 500 learners, over a course of 3 to 12 months. Here are the details:
1. Short Skills Programme (Construction Road Works): 150 learners will be selected to take part in the 3 month course, and will receive a stipend of R1 500.

2. Short Skills Programme (Solar Panel Installation): 200 learners will be selected to take part in the 3 month course, and will receive a stipend of R1 500.

3. Learnership (Plumbing): 50 learners will be selected to take part in the 12 month course, and will receive a stipend of R2 500.

4. Learnership (Bricklaying): 50 learners will be selected to take part in the 12 month course, and will receive a stipend of R2 500.

5. Learnership (Construction Road Works): 50 learners will be selected to take part in the 12 month course, and will receive a stipend of R2 500.

These opportunities are available at various departmental offices across the Province (including Bohlabela, Ehlanzeni, Gert Sibande and Nkangala District Offices).

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS FOR THE LEARNERSHIP

Applicants must satisfy the following minimum entry criteria before applying (please note that failure to satisfy all the requirements will lead to your application not being considered):

  • You must be a member of the youth
  • You must be unemployed
  • You must have completed Matric/ Grade 12
  • You must be committed to completing the programme
  • Female candidates and candidates with disabilities are also encouraged to apply
