ABOUT THE SCHOLARSHIP PROVIDER – TISO FOUNDATION

The Tiso Foundation, a Public Benefit Organization, was established in 2001 to provide bursaries, scholarships and other awards for research and teaching.

The Tiso Foundation Masters Scholarship was established in 2015, with the aim of aiding excellent black youth to pursue a Master’s studies. The scholarship allows for honours graduates to further themselves through a higher postgraduate qualification.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS FOR THE TISO FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIP

Applicants must satisfy the following minimum entry criteria before applying (please note that failure to satisfy all the requirements will lead to your application not being considered):

  • You must be a South African citizen
  • You must be between the ages of 18 and 35 years old
  • You must be Black as per BBBEE (Black, Coloured or Indian)
  • You must have completed an Honours or MTech qualification
  • You must be registered or provisionally accepted to study full-time, towards a Masters programme in ANY field
  • You must study at a registered University or University of Technology in South Africa
  • You must have achieved a minimum overall average of 70% in Matric
  • You must have achieved a minimum overall average of 65% in your latest tertiary academic results
  • You must be unemployed
  • You must be in financial need
  • You must be able to provide references with your application

 

HOW TO APPLY FOR THE TISO FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIP

Submit clear copies of the following supporting documentation along with your online application (the submission of these documents is compulsory – if any items are missing, your application may be disqualified):

  • ID document (certified copy)
  • Degree certificates (maximum of 3) (certified copies)
  • University transcripts (maximum of 3) (certified copies)
  • Academic reference
  • Employment reference (or Academic reference if you have no work experience)
  • Endorsement from your supervisor
