ABOUT THE GRANT PROVIDER – FASSET

The Finance and Accounting Services Sector Education and Training Authority (FASSET) was established to aid the finance and accounting sector. These sectors are vital to the economy as it is the largest employer of people within financial management, auditing, and accounting.

Some of the organizations served by the FASSET include major front runners within the Financial and Accounting Services sector, such as trusts, investment entities, secretary services, financial markets, stockbroking, accounting, bookkeeping and more. The vision of FASSET is to provide world-class finance and accounting services skills. Its mission is to enhance the influx of new finance and accounting services resulting in employment and the transformation of the sector and the economy.
 

ABOUT THE FASSET OUTSTANDING STUDENT DEBT PROGRAMME

FASSET is inviting students to apply for their Outstanding Study Debt Assistance Grant.

This Grant is open to candidates who have obtained qualifications within the Accounting and Finance sectors and are in need of financial assistance to eliminate their student debt.

The Grant was created to minimize the stress caused by existing student debt from previous, completed studies and qualifications, and is valued at a maximum of R40 000 per learner.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS FOR THE FASSET OUTSTANDING STUDENT DEBT PROGRAMME

Applicants must satisfy the following minimum entry criteria before applying (please note that failure to satisfy all the requirements will lead to your application not being considered):

  • You must be a South African citizen
  • You must have completed Matric
  • You must be employed
  • You must have completed a qualification within the Accounting or Financial sector
  • You must have an outstanding loan at NSFAS/ your higher education learning institution
  • You must be in financial need
  • Preference will be given to those who earn less than R600 000 per annum and those who are currently engaging in FASSET learnership/ internship programmes

 

HOW TO APPLY FOR THE FASSET OUTSTANDING STUDENT DEBT PROGRAMME

Download and complete the application form in either of the following formats:

Submit clear copies of the following supporting documentation along with your completed application form (the submission of these documents is compulsory – if any items are missing, your application may be disqualified):

  • ID document (certified copy)
  • Recent copy of NSFAS statement/ higher institution statement (no older than 30 days of submission of your FASSET application)
  • Full academic transcript/ certificate stating the successful completion of your qualification
  • Signed declaration form (attached in application form)
  • Signed confirmation of employment/ copy of your employment contract from your employer

28 February 2023 (at midnight/ 00:00) or upon depletion of the Budget.
(Applications submitted after this date will not be accepted – please apply before the closing date to ensure your application is considered.)
