ABOUT THE BURSARY PROVIDER – ROYAL BAFOKENG INSTITUTE

The Royal Bafokeng Institute (RBI), founded in 2007, provides Technical, Vocational and Educational Training (TVET) programmes aimed at out-of-school training, particularly for the youth.

RBI is a company of the Royal Bafokeng Nation (RBN), situated in the North West, is a traditionally governed community of 150 000 people living in 29 villages, above the world’s largest platinum reserves.
 

ABOUT THE RBI BURSARY PROGRAMME – FIELDS COVERED

The Royal Bafokeng Institute (RBI) is inviting students to apply for the TVET Bursary, for the 2023 academic year (term 3).

Bursaries will be awarded to students residing in Royal Bafokeng, for studies at TVET colleges, within the following fields:

• Boiler Making
• Civil Engineering
• Electrical Engineering
• Fitting and Turning
• Mechanical Engineering
• Rock Engineering

MORE ABOUT THE RBI BURSARY PROGRAMME – EXPENSES COVERED & SELECTION

The bursary will provide cover for the following expenses: tuition fees, study material and living expenses.

RBI will screen bursary applications against its mandated sole discretion.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS FOR THE ROYAL BAFOKENG INSTITUTE BURSARY

Applicants must satisfy the following minimum entry criteria before applying (please note that failure to satisfy all the requirements will lead to your application not being considered):

• You must be a South African citizen
• You must reside in Royal Bafokeng
• You must intend on studying towards a qualification within one of the scarce skills fields listed above
• You must have been accepted to study at a Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) college, for term 3 of the 2023 academic year
• You must have proven financial need and not have the means to study further (based on your household income)
• You must have a strong academic record
• You must NOT be receiving funding from NSFAS, government or any other private sponsor

 

HOW TO APPLY FOR THE ROYAL BAFOKENG INSTITUTE BURSARY

Students who meet all of the above criteria, can apply by submitting clear copies of the following supporting documentation (the submission of these documents is compulsory – if any items are missing, your application may be disqualified):

• ID document (certified copy)
• Latest academic results (if already enrolled at a TVET college)
• Proof of acceptance at a TVET college (if not yet studying at a TVET college)
• Curriculum Vitae
• Letter from Kgosana
• Proof of household income (latest payslips if employed, affidavit if unemployed)

Note: there is no application form to be completed for this bursary application – students need only submit the list of above documents to apply.
