WHAT FIELDS OF STUDY DOES THE ISPA BURSARY COVER?
The Internet Service Providers’ Association (ISPA) is inviting students to apply for the ISPA Inspires Scholarship, for the 2027 academic year.
Bursaries will be awarded undergraduate for studies in a field of study related to ICT (Information and Communications Technology).
MORE ABOUT THE ISPA BURSARY
In 2020, ISPA launched the ISPA Inspires Educational Sponsorship Programme after concluding its long-running teacher training initiative, which helped more than 3,000 teachers gain ICT skills over 19 years.
ISPA Inspires focuses on supporting talented young South Africans who want to pursue careers in the ICT and Internet industries. Through educational sponsorships, the programme helps students access relevant tertiary education and develop the skills needed for South Africa’s growing technology sector.
The initiative forms part of ISPA’s commitment to investing in youth, promoting digital skills and helping develop the next generation of ICT professionals.

WHAT ARE THE ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA FOR THE ISPA BURSARY?
Applicants must satisfy the following minimum entry criteria before applying (please note that failure to satisfy all the requirements will lead to your application not being considered):
- You must be a South African citizen
- You must be 35 years old or younger
- You must be studying or intend on studying towards a qualification, in a field of study related to ICT (Information and Communications Technology) (postgraduate studies will NOT be funded)
- You must be studying or intend on studying at a recognised tertiary institution in South Africa (Universities, TVET Colleges, Technical Colleges and other accredited institutions)
- You must NOT be in receipt of any other bursary funding
- You must intend on following a career within the ISP (Internet Service Provider) sector
- Preference will be given to students from previously disadvantaged backgrounds

WHAT DOCUMENTS MUST I SUBMIT FOR THE ISPA BURSARY?
Submit clear copies of the following supporting documentation along with your online application (the submission of these documents is compulsory – if any items are missing, your application may be disqualified):
- Full academic record, including most recent results (certified copy)
- Education background: details about your education, including school, higher institutions, qualifications, and year/s completed
- Name of institution where you will study and proposed course
- Curriculum Vitae
- Motivational letter explaining why you deserve to be awarded the bursary (read our tips on how to write a motivational letter for your bursary application)
- Contactable references, including: name, contact details and relation to you (employer, teacher etc) (read our tips on getting an academic reference for your bursary application)

The Internet Service Providers’ Association (ISPA) is a South African non-profit organisation and recognised representative body for the Internet industry. Established in 1996, ISPA represents independent Internet service providers and engages with organisations such as ICASA, government departments, network operators and other industry stakeholders on matters affecting South Africa’s Internet sector.
ISPA also plays an important role in promoting the development of a skilled workforce for the country’s growing technology industry.
