ABOUT THE BURSARY PROVIDER – LESEDI NUCLEAR SERVICES

Lesedi Nuclear Services are leaders in Power Generation, Mining, Oil and Gas. The companies history dates back to 1984, when it was previously known as Intens Engineering. Since it has evolved, Lesedi is now a leading engineering, procurement, construction (EPC) African company, with a long history in nuclear, industrial power, mining and oil and gas environments.
 

ABOUT THE LESEDI BURSARY PROGRAMME – FIELDS COVERED

Lesedi Nuclear Services is inviting students to apply for their bursary programme, for the 2023 academic year.

Bursaries will be awarded for studies towards the following postgraduate qualifications:

  • Nuclear Science and Technology (Postgraduate Diploma)
  • Nuclear Science and Technology with Nuclear Technology Management (Postgraduate Diploma)

 

Lesedi Nuclear Services, located in Cape Town, has partnered with EWSETA with the goal of creating a pipeline of young nuclear-qualified graduates. The bursary is aimed at postgraduate students who wish to pursue a career in Nuclear Science and Technology.

This PGDip in Nuclear Science and Technology is focused on theory that prepares students for the Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Engineering Sciences with Nuclear Engineering, which focuses on the optimization of nuclear reactor design.

This PGDip in Nuclear Science and Technology with Nuclear Technology Management is focused on theory that prepares students for the Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Engineering Sciences with Nuclear Engineering and Nuclear Technology Management degree, which focuses on the optimization of Nuclear Technology Management.

MORE ABOUT THE LESEDI BURSARY PROGRAMME – EXPENSES COVERED

Bursaries will be awarded to a maximum of 20 qualifying previously disadvantaged engineers. The bursary will provide cover for the following expenses: registration fees, tuition fees, university residence and a stipend.

Bursary recipients will embark on theoretical learning at the North-West University in Potchefstroom. After graduation, the practical and work-based learning will be carried out at Lesedi’s offices, at the following locations: Lesedi House (Century City) in Cape Town, Koeberg Nuclear Power Station, Centurion Office in Gauteng and Other local/ global sites.
 

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS FOR THE LESEDI BURSARY

Applicants must satisfy the following minimum entry criteria before applying (please note that failure to satisfy all the requirements will lead to your application not being considered):
Nuclear Science and Technology (Postgraduate Diploma) students:
You must have completed any of the following degrees:

  • BEng or BIng, BSc (Eng), or equivalent qualification at NQF level 8; or
  • 3 year BSc degree with Physics, at 3rd year level and at least 1 of Mathematics, Applied Mathematics; or
  • Computer Science at least 2nd year level at NQF level 7; or
  • BTech (Engineering) degree at NQF level 7 with a minimum overall average of 60% for the final year or a BEngTech (Engineering) degree at NQF level 8 with a minimum overall average of 60%

Nuclear Science and Technology with Nuclear Technology Management (Postgraduate Diploma) students:
You must have completed any of the following degrees:

  • BEng or BIng, BSC (Eng) or equivalent qualification at NQF level 8; or
  • 3 year BSc degree with Physics at least 2nd year level and at least 1 of Mathematics, Applied Mathematics or Computer Science at, at least 2nd year level at NQF level 7; or
  • BTech (Engineering) degree at NQF level 7; or
  • BEngTech (Engineering) degree at NQF level 8
