The Garden Route District Municipality (GRDM) is inviting students to apply for their bursary programme, for the 2027 academic year.
Bursaries will be awarded for ALL fields of study, for students whose parents permanently reside within the Garden Route municipal area (Western Cape).

WHAT IS THE ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA FOR THE GRDM BURSARY?
Applicants must satisfy the following minimum entry criteria before applying (please note that failure to satisfy all the requirements will lead to your application not being considered):
- Your parents must permanently reside within the Garden Route municipal area, in the Western Cape province
- You must be currently in Matric or have completed Matric
- You must be studying or intend on studying towards a full-time qualification in 2027
- You must be studying or intend on studying at a recognised and accredited SAQA accredited tertiary/ TVET institution

Submit clear copies of the following supporting documentation along with your completed application form (the submission of these documents is compulsory – if any items are missing, your application may be disqualified):
- Detailed Curriculum Vitae
- Cover letter
- ID document (certified copy)
- Matric latest results, if currently in Matric (certified copy)
- Matric certificate, if completed Matric (certified copy)
- Most recent examination results, if currently studying (certified copy)
- Proof of registration and study-related expenses (certified copy)
- Parents or guardians proof of household income (certified copies of payslips if employed / sworn affidavit if unemployed)
- Proof of residential address (municipal account)

WHAT DOES THE GARDEN ROUTE DISTRICT MUNICIPALITY DO?
The Garden Route District Municipality (GRDM) is a Category C municipality in the Western Cape, South Africa. It was previously known as the Eden District Municipality, with the name officially changed to Garden Route District Municipality in 2018.
The district is bordered by the Sarah Baartman, Overberg, Cape Winelands and Central Karoo district municipalities. It consists of seven local municipalities: Bitou, George, Hessequa, Kannaland, Knysna, Mossel Bay and Oudtshoorn.
Known for its diverse landscapes, the Garden Route stretches from coastal towns and forests to inland farming areas. The region is also a major tourism destination, attracting visitors with its beaches, nature reserves, wildlife, scenic routes and outdoor adventure activities.
