ABOUT THE BURSARY PROVIDER – MASTER BUILDERS KZN

Master Builders KwaZulu-Natal is an Employers’ Association, which represents more than 700 Members in the Building and Construction Industry. Registered in terms of the Labour Relations Act, the Association is responsible for representing its members interests and to providing specialized support services to assist in successful running of their businesses within the province of KwaZulu-Natal.

The Associations range of services to members include: training, occupational health and safety consulting, contractual and legal assistance, employee benefits schemes, member discounts and so much more.
 

ABOUT THE MASTER BUILDERS KZN BURSARY PROGRAMME – FIELDS COVERED

Master Builders KwaZulu-Natal is inviting students to apply for their bursary programme, for the 2026 academic year.

Bursaries will be awarded for studies within the Built Environment industry (including but is not limited to: Apprenticeships, National Certificate qualifications, Diplomas, Degrees or any other related qualification as approved by the Bursary Committee).

Through the bursary fund, Master Builders KwaZulu-Natal aims to financially assist students, in order to address the shortage of critical skills in the construction industry.

MORE ABOUT THE MASTER BUILDERS KZN BURSARY PROGRAMME – SELECTION & RENEWAL

Students will be selected based on the following main criteria: financial need, academic ability, and career-oriented study programmes that are in demand in the building sector.

Bursaries are awarded for a 1 year of study at a time, renewable annually based on satisfactory academic progress.

Successful candidates will be contacted by 28 February 2026 at the latest – if you have not received any feedback by this date, please consider your application unsuccessful.
 

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS FOR THE MASTER BUILDERS KZN BURSARY

Applicants must satisfy the following minimum entry criteria before applying (please note that failure to satisfy all the requirements will lead to your application not being considered):

• You must be a South African citizen
• You must be currently in Matric or have completed Matric
• You must be studying or intend on studying full-time, towards a qualification within the Built Environment sector
• You must be studying or have been accepted to study at a registered institution of learning in South Africa
• You must have a strong academic record
• You must proven financial need
• Preference will be given to students residing in KwaZulu-Natal province, however, students from other regions can also apply
• Preference will be given to students pursuing studies in fields relating specifically to the building industry

• Matric latest results, if currently in Matric (certified copy)
• Matric certificate, if completed Matric (certified copy)
• Full academic record to date, if currently studying (certified copy)
• Proof of highest qualification obtained (certified copy)
• Proof of application and acceptance to a tertiary institution
• Postgraduate students: undergraduate academic record (certified copy)
• Invoice or quotation of fees for study programme (on tertiary letterhead)

• Recommendation letter to support the application
• Curriculum Vitae
• Parents or guardians proof of household income (latest payslips if employed/ affidavit if unemployed/ proof of grants or pension if applicable/ death certificates if deceased) (certified copy)
• Proof of residential address (certified copy)
