ABOUT THE ELEMENT SIX INTERNSHIP – MATERIAL SCIENCES & ENGINEERING

Element Six is inviting students to apply for their Material Sciences or Metallurgical Engineering Internship programme. Applications are open until 20 March 2026.

This internship programme is aimed at applicants who have completed an MSc or currently pursuing a PhD in Material Sciences or Metallurgical Engineering.

Through the programme, interns will develop technical expertise within an innovative industrial environment. Interns will gain hands-on experience, work on meaningful projects, and receive mentorship from industry experts.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS FOR THE INTERNSHIP PROVIDER

Applicants must satisfy the following minimum entry criteria before applying (please note that failure to satisfy all the requirements will lead to your application not being considered):

  • You must be a South African citizen with a valid South African ID
  • You must have an MSc or currently pursuing a PhD in Material Sciences or Metallurgical Engineering
  • You must be able to apply technical knowledge to various practical problems
  • You must have a passion for design, development and processing of materials

  • South African ID document (certified copy)
  • Complete transcript of tertiary academic record
  • Updated comprehensive Curriculum Vitae (CV)
  • Cover letter stating your interest
