Seriti is a 91% black-owned South African mining company, co-owned by 4 black shareholders, including: Community Investment Holdings (CIH); Thebe Investments; Zungu Investments (Zico) and Masimong Group.

ABOUT THE SERITI BURSARY PROGRAMME – FIELDS COVERED

Seriti is inviting students to apply for their bursary programme, for the 2026 academic year.

Bursaries will be awarded for studies within the following fields (Degree or Diploma studies – NQF level 7):

  • Electrical Engineering
  • Environmental
  • Geology
  • Mechanical Engineering
  • Mine Surveying
  • Mining Engineering
  • VOHE (Ventilation & Occupational Hygiene Engineering)

MORE ABOUT THE SERITI BURSARY PROGRAMME – EXPENSES COVERED & SELECTION

The bursary will provide cover for the following expenses: tuition fees, book allowance, accommodation, meals, pocket money and a once-off laptop allowance.

The bursary will NOT cover the previous year’s failed subjects/ modules or outstanding tuition fees.

Students will also partake in vacation work during their studies, and after graduation, will complete a work back obligation (depending on business needs at the time).

Shortlisted applicants will be contacted within 30 days of the closing date – if you have not received any feedback, please regard your application as unsuccessful.

Bursary recipients will be selected based on official registration for the 2026 academic year and the previous academic years results.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS FOR THE SERITI BURSARY

Applicants must satisfy the following minimum entry criteria before applying (please note that failure to satisfy all the requirements will lead to your application not being considered):

  • You must be a South African citizen
  • You must have completed Matric
  • You must be studying full-time towards a qualification within one of the fields of study listed above
  • You must be entering your 2nd, 3rd, or 4th year of study in 2026 or Honours if a Geology or Environmental student (the bursary will NOT fund students entering their 1st year of study)
  • You must be studying at a recognized and registered Higher Education and Training Institution in South Africa (mainstream University or the University of Technology)
  • You must have a strong academic record
  • You must have achieved a minimum overall average of 60% for your most recent studies
  • You must NOT be receiving any other bursary funding or sponsorship
  • You must have a basic understanding of relevant legislation about the Mining Industry including the Mine Health and Safety Act
  • Preference will be given to students residing in the companies local communities
