ABOUT THE BURSARY PROVIDER – LPG

The Liquefied Petroleum Gas Association of South Africa (LPGSA) is a non-profit organisation that has been around since 1987. It represents companies that work with LPG (Liquefied Petroleum Gas) in many different ways, such as installations, distribution, selling gas appliances, and providing related hardware.

LPGSA’s main goal is to grow the gas industry in a safe and sustainable way. To do this, they make sure businesses follow safety rules and good business practices. They also provide training for people who want to become LPG installers, certify gas appliances and hardware, and offer valuable support and benefits to their members.
 

ABOUT THE LPG BURSARY COMPETITION – FIELDS COVERED

LPGSA is inviting students to apply for their bursary competition, for the 2026 academic year.

8 bursaries will be awarded to female students, for LPG Residential Installation Course, including theory, practical training and SAQCC registration.

8 students will be selected to receive a LPGSA Bursary for LPG Residential Installation Course (including theory and practical application) and the registration of SAQCC membership.

Winners will be contacted via telephone or email and announced on the LPGSA website and social media within 4 weeks of competition closing date.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS FOR THE LPG BURSARY COMPETITION

Applicants must satisfy the following minimum entry criteria before applying (please note that failure to satisfy all the requirements will lead to your application not being considered):

  • You must be a South African citizen
  • You must be from a previously disadvantaged background (BB-BEE)
  • You must be Female
  • You must be between 18 and 45 years old
  • You must have passed Grade 9 English or higher
  • You must have studied STEM subjects (Grade 9 and above) or TVET technical science
  • You must NOT be an employee of LPGSA or their immediate relatives, competition sponsors and their close relatives, and anyone otherwise connected with the organisations or judging of the competition
  • You must read and agree to the terms of the bursary competition (.pdf) before entering

 

HOW TO APPLY FOR THE LPG BURSARY COMPETITION

Students who meet the above criteria, may apply via email to: gadibolae@lpgas.co.za and sharmilen@lpgas.co.za
(Insert the words “LPG Bursary 2026” in the email subject line).

Note: there is no application form to be completed for this bursary application – students need only submit the list of documents below to apply.
 

Submit clear copies of the following supporting documentation along with your email application (the submission of these documents is compulsory – if any items are missing, your application may be disqualified):

  • ID document (certified copy)
  • Latest school results/ TVET results on the school’s letterhead (certified copy)
  • PowerPoint Presentation, in English, with no more than 20 slides. Your presentation should include the research method you followed to understand and gather information on the above from your community.
    • The topic of the presentation should be: Based on your community energy needs, and should answer these questions:
      • 1. What are the available sources of energy being utilised by households?
      • 2. What impact will LPG adoption have on your community household’s energy needs?
      • 3. What socio-economic issues will be addressed through LPG adoption and how will you go about addressing them?
      • 4. Explanation on how becoming a Domestic LPG installer will change your life.

Applicants will be required to deliver their presentation to selection panel (in person or virtually).

30 October 2025.
