ABOUT THE BURSARY PROVIDER – TWFT
The Tsitsikamma Community Wind Farm Trust is committed to empowering members of the community and improving the lives of community members, within the areas they operate.
The Tsitsikamma Community Wind Energy Facility (TCWF) is located within the Tsitsikamma area, in the Eastern Cape Province of South Africa. The Project consists of 31 wind turbines, owned by the Tsitsikamma Development Trust (TDT), which can provide clean renewable electrical energy to over 96 000 average South African households.
ABOUT THE TSITSIKAMMA WIND FARM TRUST BURSARY PROGRAMME – FIELDS COVERED
The Tsitsikamma Wind Farm Trust (TWFT) is inviting students to apply for their bursary programme, for the 2026 academic year.
Bursaries will be awarded to students who reside near the Tsitsikamma Community Wind Farm (AmaMfengu, Koukamma or Kouga communities, Eastern Cape), for studies within the following fields:
- Agricultural Sciences (Crops & Livestock Farming, Agricultural Economics)
- Business Management and Economics (Accounting, Economics, Auditing, Actuarial Science, and Operations Management)
- Computer & Information Sciences (Computer Science, Data Science and Information Technology)
- Engineering (Electrical, Civil, Power/Renewable Energy and Mechatronics Engineering)
- Environmental Sciences (Environmental Science, Hydrology, Water Resource Management)
- Health & Clinical Sciences (Medicine, Optometry, Audiology, Nursing, Nutrition, Dietetics, Occupational & Speech Therapy, Emergency Medical Care, Medical Lab Science, Pharmacy, Radiography)
- Law (Bachelor of Laws and Company Secretary)
- Social Sciences & Humanities (Social Work, Psychology, Development Studies, Language, Media and Communication, and Education (majors in English, Mathematics & Science, Early Childhood Development))

MORE ABOUT THE TSITSIKAMMA WIND FARM TRUST BURSARY PROGRAMME – EXPENSES COVERED & RENEWAL
The bursary will provide full cover for the following expenses: tuition fees, prescribed study material, accommodation and a monthly living stipend.
Students will also have access to a mentor throughout the duration of the academic years.
Bursaries are granted for 1 academic year, and students should reapply each year for funding. Academic performance will be assessed when reviewing funding applications for the following year.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS FOR THE TWFT BURSARY
Applicants must satisfy the following minimum entry criteria before applying (please note that failure to satisfy all the requirements will lead to your application not being considered):
- You must be a South African citizen
- You must be Black, as defined by the DTI codes of good practice
- You must permanently reside within a 50km radius of the Tsitsikamma Community Wind Farm, within AmaMfengu, Koukamma or Kouga communities, in the Eastern Cape province:
- Kouga: Centerton, Jeffrey’s Bay (township), Humansdorp, Noorshoek, Oyster Bay, Pellrus, Rosedale, St Francis Bay (township) and Westerton
- Koukamma: Clarkson, Kagiso Heights, Kareedouw (township), Katank, New Rest, Nompumelelo, Sanddrif, Thornham, Uitkyk and Woodlands
- AmaMfengu: Wittekleibosch, Snyklip, Ekuphumleni, Nuweplaas and Doriskraal
HOW TO APPLY FOR THE TWFT BURSARY

Submit clear copies of the following supporting documentation along with your bursary application (the submission of these documents is compulsory – if any items are missing, your application may be disqualified):
- ID Document (certified copy)
- Grade 11 final results and Matric latest results, if currently in Matric
- Matric certificate/ statement of results, if completed Matric
- Full tertiary academic record, if currently studying
- Proof of address acceptance/ provisional acceptance from your institution
- Parent or guardians proof of household income (payslips if employed/ affidavit signed by commissioner of oaths if unemployed/ certified SASSA letter if receiving a grant/ death certificate if deceased)
- Parent or guardians 3 months bank statements
- Proof of address (municipal bill, letter from Ward Counsellor or affidavit)
