ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS FOR THE EMMA SMITH OVERSEAS SCHOLARSHIP
Applicants must satisfy the following minimum entry criteria before applying (please note that failure to satisfy all the requirements will lead to your application not being considered):
- You must be a South African citizen
- You must be under 25 years of age as at 1 January 2026
- You must be female
- You must be a resident in Durban for at least 3 years
- You must be a high-achieving graduate and have completed a minimum 2 year degree (preference will be given to 5 year qualifications), at any South African university
- You must have been a registered student at a South African University for at least 2 years
- You must wish to pursue full-time postgraduate studies overseas, within 18 months from the date of the award
- You must NOT be receiving any other scholarship or bursary or any paid appointment
HOW TO APPLY FOR THE EMMA SMITH OVERSEAS SCHOLARSHIP

Submit clear copies of the following supporting documentation along with your completed application form (the submission of these documents is compulsory – if any items are missing, your application may be disqualified):
- ID document (certified copy)
- Full Academic Record
- Proof of contact with any foreign host universities, including details such as foreign university courses you are interested in studying
- 2 reference letters
- Motivational letter stating why you are applying for this scholarship
- Full Curriculum Vitae (no copies of certificates)
- Proof of residence
