ABOUT THE BURSARY PROVIDER – MACMILLAN FOUNDATION
The Macmillan Foundation is a registered non-profit company established by SNAPP Architects to support training, empowerment, and education in architecture. Focused on uplifting previously disadvantaged women under the age of 35, the Foundation offers bursaries to help qualifying students complete their postgraduate degrees. Through mentorship, knowledge-sharing, and a strong support framework, the Macmillan Foundation is committed to shaping the next generation of critical thinkers and designers in South Africa.
ABOUT THE MACMILLAN FOUNDATION BURSARY – FIELDS COVERED
The MacMillan Foundation is inviting students to apply for their bursary programme, for the 2026 academic year.
Bursaries will be awarded to Black female students, for Postgraduate Architecture Degree studies.
Through the bursary programme, the foundation aims to assist previously disadvantaged women, with strong academic merit but lacking financial means, to further their studies within the Architecture field.

ABOUT THE MACMILLAN FOUNDATION BURSARY – PAYMENT & SELECTION
The bursary will be awarded for 1 year of study.
Payments will be made directly into the account of the students academic institution, after the submission of proof of registration and the academic Tax Invoice.

The final awarding of the bursary will be dependent on 2 factors: final results and proof of Tuition Fees from the university.
Bursary recipients will be required to enter into a bursary agreement with the foundation.
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS FOR THE MACMILLAN FOUNDATION BURSARY
Applicants must satisfy the following minimum entry criteria before applying (please note that failure to satisfy all the requirements will lead to your application not being considered):
- You must be a South African citizen
- You must be Black (as defined in RSA B-BBEE Codes)
- You must be female
- You must be studying or intend on studying towards a Postgraduate Degree in Architecture
- You must be studying at an accredited university in South Africa
- You must be able to complete your Degree before turning 35 years old
- You must have a strong academic record
- You must have no previous criminal record
HOW TO APPLY FOR THE MACMILLAN FOUNDATION BURSARY
Download and complete the MacMillan Foundation Bursary Application Form 2026 (.pdf) or the MacMillan Foundation Bursary Application Form 2026 (.doc)
Enter “www.zabursaries.co.za” in the field asking how you heard about the MacMillan Foundation Bursary.
Submit the following supporting documentation along with your completed application form (the submission of these documents is compulsory – if any items are missing, your application may be disqualified):
- ID document (certified copy)
- Latest Academic Results
- Proof of current accounts with your university (indicating if it is paid up in full or still outstanding)
- 1 letter of recommendation from a lecturer (read our tips on how to get a letter of reference/ testimonial for your bursary application)
- Declaration of outstanding debt towards previous studies (if applicable)
- Declaration or Affidavit indicating financial independence from parents (if applicable)
- Any additional supporting documentation (e.g. CV, portfolio)
