Rheinmetall Denel Munition (Pty) Ltd (RDM) is majority owned by Rheinmetall Waffe Munition GmbH of Germany and minority owned by Denel (Pty) Ltd, South Africa. RDM is one of the leading global developers and manufacturers of defence related ammunition and rocket and missile systems, specialising in large-calibre and medium-calibre ammunition families.

The company has its head office in Somerset West, Western Cape; while their manufacturing sites are located in Wellington, Western Cape, Boskop, North West and Boksburg, Gauteng.

ABOUT THE RHEINMETALL DENEL MUNITION BURSARY PROGRAMME – FIELDS COVERED

Rheinmetall Denel Munition is inviting students to apply for the Rheinmetall Resonant South Africa Bursary Programme, for the 2026 academic year.

Bursaries will be awarded for BEng studies, within the following fields:

  • Chemical Engineering
  • Civil Engineering
  • Electrical Engineering
  • Electronic Engineering
  • Mechanical Engineering
  • Mechatronic Engineering

The aim of the bursary program is to address South Africa’s shortage of specialized talent, with a particular emphasis on developing engineering expertise.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS FOR THE RDM BURSARY

Applicants must satisfy the following minimum entry criteria before applying (please note that failure to satisfy all the requirements will lead to your application not being considered):

  • You must be a South African citizen
  • You must have completed Matric
  • You must be studying full-time towards a Bachelor of Engineering degree, within one of the fields of study listed above
  • You must be entering your 3rd or 4th year of study in 2026
  • You must be studying at a recognised and accredited tertiary institution in South Africa
  • You must have achieved a minimum overall average of 75% in the current year of study
