ABOUT THE BURSARY PROVIDER – FSCA

The Financial Sector Conduct Authority (FSCA) is a financial institutions regulator that provides financial products and financial services. The FSCA is responsible​ for market conduct regulation and supervision​.

The FSCA is a successor agency to the Financial Services Board (FSB) in South Africa, which was the South African government’s financial regulatory agency responsible for the non-banking financial services until 2018.
 

ABOUT THE FSCA BURSARY PROGRAMME – FIELDS COVERED

The Financial Sector Conduct Authority (FSCA) is inviting students to apply for their Bursary Programme, for the 2026 academic year.

Bursaries will be awarded for undergraduate Actuarial Science studies.

MORE ABOUT THE FSCA BURSARY PROGRAMME – EXPENSES COVERED, SERVICE CONTRACT & SELECTION

The bursary will provider cover for the following expenses: registration fees, tuition fees, books, study material, stationery, internet time, laptop (once-off), accommodation, meals and living expenses (monthly allowances for incidental expenses).

Final selection of the bursary will be dependent on final Matric results and admission to University.

Bursary recipients will be required to partake in experiential learning at FSCA, for a minimum of 4 weeks per year during vacation breaks.

After graduation, bursary recipients will be required to enter into a work-back contract with the FSCA – the contract will be equal to the duration of funding received.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS FOR THE FSCA BURSARY

Applicants must satisfy the following minimum entry criteria before applying (please note that failure to satisfy all the requirements will lead to your application not being considered):

  • You must be a South African citizen
  • You must be currently in Matric
  • You must achieve a minimum A-symbol for Mathematics in Matric
  • You must intend on studying full-time, towards an Actuarial science qualification
  • You must intend on studying at a recognised university in South Africa
  • You must be from a previously disadvantaged background
  • You must be in financial need and not be able to afford your studies for the 2026 to 2029 academic years

Submit clear copies of the following supporting documentation along with your online application (the submission of these documents is compulsory – if any items are missing, your application may be disqualified):

  • ID document/ ID card (certified copy)
  • Matric mid-year/ latest results (certified copy)
  • Motivational letter to support your application (read our tips on how to write a motivational letter for your bursary application)
  • Parents or guardians proof of household income (latest payslips if employed/ affidavit if unemployed/ proof of pension or social grant if applicable)
