ABOUT THE EXXARO BURSARY PROGRAMME – FIELDS COVERED
Exxaro is inviting students to apply for their Feeder Scheme Bursary programme, for the 2026 academic year.
Bursaries will be awarded for studies within the following fields:
- Civil Engineering (BEng / BSc)
- Data Sciences (BTech / BDatSci / BComp specialising in DataScience)
- Electrical Engineering (BEng / BSc)
- Geology (BSc)
- Industrial Engineering (BEng / BSc)
- Mechanical Engineering (BEng)
- Metallurgical Engineering / Chemical Engineering (BEng / BSc)
- Mine Surveying (BEng / BSc)
- Mining Engineering (BEng / BSc)

The bursary will provide cover for the following expenses: registration fees, tuition fees, study material, laptop, data, accommodation, meals, travel and wellness.
Students will also have the opportunity to partake in vacation work and have dedicated mentorship.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS FOR THE EXXARO BURSARY
Applicants must satisfy the following minimum entry criteria before applying (please note that failure to satisfy all the requirements will lead to your application not being considered):
- You must be a South African citizen
- You must be studying at a recognised and accredited tertiary institution in South Africa
- You must be studying on a full-time basis
- Civil Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Metallurgical/ Chemical Engineering students: you must be entering your 2nd or 4th year of study
- Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mining Engineering students: you must be entering your 2nd year of study
- Geology students: you must be entering your 2nd or 3rd year of study
- Data Science: you must be entering your 3rd year of study
- Mine Surveying students: you must be entering your 3rd or Honours year of study
- You must be able to achieve and maintain the required minimum academic average as indicated in the bursary agreement
- You must be committed to completing all studies, assignments, projects, and examinations
- You must be willing to submit academic transcripts or progress updates each semester/term to the bursary office
- You must be willing to participate in bursary-related programs, including mentoring, workshops, or community outreach initiatives
- You must be willing complete any service obligations or internships after graduation
- You must be ambitious and hard working
- You must be passionate about engineering
