ABOUT THE BURSARY PROVIDER – KOMATSU
Komatsu Ltd is a Japanese multinational company, founded in 1921 and headquartered in Minato, Tokyo, Japan. The company manufactures construction, mining, forestry and military equipment, as well as diesel engines and industrial equipment. The Komatsu Group includes Komatsu Ltd. and 258 other companies.
The company is named after the city Komatsu, situated in Japan – in English “Komatsu” translates to “little pine tree”.
Komatsu South Africa is a leading supplier of Japanese-engineered mining, construction, earthmoving and utility equipment in South Africa and Southern Africa. The company first began operating on the African continent in 1962, and today has a presence in 9 Southern African countries.

Komatsu is inviting students to apply for their bursary programme, for the 2026 academic year.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS FOR THE KOMATSU BURSARY
Applicants must satisfy the following minimum entry criteria before applying (please note that failure to satisfy all the requirements will lead to your application not being considered):
- You must be a South African citizen
- You must be studying towards a qualification within one of the STEM fields listed above, or another STEM field not listed above
- You must be in your 1st, 2nd, 3rd or 4th year of study
- You must be studying at an accredited public Higher Education Training (HET) institution in South Africa
- Preference will be given to students residing in the Northern Cape, from Gamagara and Tsantsabane Municipalities (however students from other regions should also apply)
