PRDW is inviting students to apply for their Bursary Programme, for the 2027 academic year.
Bursaries will be awarded for studies towards a BSc or BEng studies, within the following fields:
- Civil Engineering
- Mechanical Engineering
- Mechatronics Engineering

WHAT IS THE SELECTION PROCESS FOR THE PRDW BURSARY?
Shortlisted candidates may be contacted for further information or an interview. If you do not
receive any feedback within 30 days of the closing date, please consider your application unsuccessful.
WHAT ARE THE ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA FOR THE PRDW BURSARY?
Applicants must satisfy the following minimum entry criteria before applying (please note that failure to satisfy all the requirements will lead to your application not being considered):
- You must be a South African citizen or a permanent resident in South Africa
- You must be studying full-time, towards a BSc or BEng in Engineering degree, within one of the fields of study listed above
- You must have successfully completed at least your 3rd year of studies (or higher)
- You must have achieved and maintained a minimum overall average of 65%
- You must be studying at a recognised and accredited university in South Africa
- You must be willing and able to complete vacation work with the company – you must reside within a reasonable distance from Cape Town
- You must be in financial need and not have financial means to study
- Preference will be given, but not limited to, students from designated groups in terms of the Employment Equity Act

WHAT DOCUMENTS MUST I SUBMIT FOR THE PRDW BURSARY?
Submit clear copies of the following supporting documentation along with your application (the submission of these documents is compulsory – if any items are missing, your application may be disqualified):
- ID Document, if an SA citizen
- Passport and valid PR Permit, if not an SA citizen
- Matric certificate
- Full university academic record/ transcripts from the start date of studies to present (including the latest results available)
- University admission letter or proof of current registration
- Latest student account financial statement
- Curriculum vitae including personalised cover letter and contactable references

WHAT DOES THE PRDW DO?
PRDW was founded in 1993 in Cape Town, South Africa, and has since developed into an international consulting engineering company serving clients across several regions. Over the years, the firm has expanded its international footprint and now operates through offices in South Africa, Chile, Australia, the United States, Panama and Brazil.
The company provides a broad range of consulting engineering services for marine and coastal developments. Its work can cover the full project lifecycle, beginning with investigations, technical assessments and feasibility studies, and progressing through concept and detailed design, tender documentation and construction supervision. PRDW also supports clients after construction through monitoring, performance assessment and project evaluation.
PRDW’s multidisciplinary team combines expertise across civil, coastal, hydraulic, structural and geotechnical engineering, with specialist knowledge of marine infrastructure and structures. The company also draws on mechanical engineering expertise in materials handling, as well as specialists in oceanography, wave behaviour and coastal processes.
Its wider technical capabilities include physical and mathematical modelling, port and navigation planning, and quantity surveying and contract management. This combination of engineering, scientific and commercial expertise enables PRDW to provide integrated solutions for complex marine, coastal and port-related projects from initial planning through to completion and ongoing evaluation.
