ABOUT THE SCHOLARSHIP PROVIDER – SAIPA

The South African Institute of Professional Accountants (SAIPA) is a recognised professional accountancy body that plays a vital role in developing skilled accountants across South Africa. As the country’s largest professional accountancy organisation, SAIPA is known for its modern, technology-driven approach to professional training and development.

With a growing community of more than 15,000 members and nearly four decades of industry experience, SAIPA continues to invest in the future of the accounting profession. To further strengthen the sector, SAIPA has introduced its 2026 Scholarship Programme, aimed at supporting motivated students who aspire to qualify as professional accountants. This scholarship seeks to improve access to quality education while contributing to the long-term growth of the accounting industry in South Africa.
 

ABOUT THE SAIPA SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAMME – FIELDS COVERED

The South African Institute of Professional Accountants (SAIPA) is inviting students to apply for their scholarship programme, for the 2026 academic year.

Scholarships will be awarded for BCom Accounting degree studies (or equivalent).

5 scholarships will be awarded, with 1 of the scholarship being awarded to honour the late Prof Rashied Small, who was a prominent figure in the profession. The Rashied Small Memorial Scholarship will serve as a tribute to his legacy of making accountancy education accessible to all.

MORE ABOUT THE SAIPA SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAMME – EXPENSES COVERED & SELECTION

The scholarship will provide cover for the following expenses: full tuition fees, textbooks, accommodation (if required) and a monthly student allowance.

After submitting their application, eligible applicants will be required to write a qualifying exam and attend an interview with a SAIPA panel.

Successful applicants will be contacted by 23 January 2026 – if you have not received any feedback by this date, please regard your application as unsuccessful.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS FOR THE SAIPA SCHOLARSHIP

Applicants must satisfy the following minimum entry criteria before applying (please note that failure to satisfy all the requirements will lead to your application not being considered):

  • You must be a South African citizen
  • You must be in Matric or have completed Matric within the last 2 years
  • You must intend on studying full-time towards a BCom Accounting degree or equivalent
  • You must intend to enrol at a recognised and accredited public university in South Africa
  • You must have achieved a minimum academic average of 70% in Mathematics and English
  • You must be in financial need, with a household income of NOT more than R350,000 per year (or R600,000 for students with disabilities)
