ABOUT THE BURSARY PROVIDER – SANPC

The South African National Petroleum Company (SANPC) is a newly formed state-owned company created through the merger of Igas, PetroSA, and the Strategic Fuel Fund, all previously part of the Central Energy Fund. Established with government approval in 2020, SANPC was created to strengthen South Africa’s role in the oil and gas sector.

The company focuses on improving energy security, developing key petroleum infrastructure, supporting innovation, and building strategic partnerships. SANPC also plays an important role in planning and managing the country’s petroleum resources to support long-term economic growth and sustainable development.
 

ABOUT THE SANPC BURSARY PROGRAMME – FIELDS COVERED

The South African National Petroleum Company (SANPC) is inviting students to apply for their bursary programme, for the 2026 academic year.

Bursaries will be awarded to Persons with Disabilities (PWDs), for studies towards a Diploma, Advanced Diploma, Degree, Honours in ANY field.

The SANPC bursary was formed as a commitment to skills development, meaningful socio-economic transformation, and the country’s broader development agenda.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS FOR THE SANPC BURSARY

Applicants must satisfy the following minimum entry criteria before applying (please note that failure to satisfy all the requirements will lead to your application not being considered):

  • You must be a South African citizen
  • You must be living with a disability
  • You must be studying or intend on studying full-time or part-time, towards a Diploma, Advanced Diploma, Degree, Honours in ANY field
  • Your qualification must be SAQA-approved NQF 5-7 (or higher)
  • You must be pursuing your qualification-level for the first time (you must NOT be repeating a degree, honours, etc)
  • You must be studying or registered to study at a tertiary institution that is recognised and registered with the DHET/ CHE

 

HOW TO APPLY FOR THE SANPC BURSARY

Students who meet the above criteria, may apply via email to: SANPC-Bursaries@sa-npc.co.za
(Insert the words “SANPC Bursary 2026” in the email subject line).

Note: there is no application form to be completed for this bursary application – students need only submit the list of documents below to apply.
 

Submit clear copies of the following supporting documentation along with your email application (the submission of these documents is compulsory – if any items are missing, your application may be disqualified):

  • ID document (certified copy)
  • Matric certificate (certified copy)
  • Most recent academic record/ transcripts, if currently studying
  • Proof of tertiary registration
  • Proof of disability: a Department of Labour Employment Equity Act (EEAl) Form AND a Diagnosis Letter from Doctor
