ABOUT THE INDALO EDUCATION BURSARY PROGRAMME – FIELDS COVERED

The Indalo Education Fund by the iNdalo Water Technologies (Pty) Ltd Foundation, is inviting students to apply for their bursary programme for the 2026 academic year.

Bursaries will be awarded for Undergraduate and Postgraduate (Honours, Masters, and PhD) studies, in STEM, Commerce and Humanities, which are all vital to the water industry. The following specific fields will be funded:

  • Commerce & Economics: Finance, Supply Chain, Project Management, and Economics for the water sector
  • Engineering & Technology: Civil Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering for water infrastructure and systems
  • Environmental Management: Sustainability, Conservation, and Resource Management for long-term water security
  • Health & Public Administration: Public Health, Development Studies, and Governance for water service delivery
  • Humanities & Social Sciences: Policy, Law, Communications, and Community Development to shape water governance
  • Natural & Applied Sciences: Chemistry, Biology, Environmental Science, and Earth Sciences for water quality and ecosystems

MORE ABOUT THE INDALO EDUCATION BURSARY PROGRAMME – EXPENSES COVERED & OBLIGATIONS

For undergraduate students, the bursary will provide cover for the following expenses: full tuition fees for the duration of your studies, books and equipment allowance, as well as access to the industry mentorship program. Students will also have the opportunity to gain practical experience through internships at water facilities.

Postgraduate students will receive cover for the following expenses: full tuition fees; research costs and living allowance, access to equipment; laboratories and research networks, funding for conference attendance and journal publications, as well as access to industry placement opportunities.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS FOR THE INDALO EDUCATION BURSARY

Applicants must satisfy the following minimum entry criteria before applying (please note that failure to satisfy all the requirements will lead to your application not being considered):
Undergraduate Bursary:

  • South African citizen or permanent resident in South Africa
  • You must have completed Matric
  • You must be studying or intend on studying towards an undergraduate qualification within one of the fields listed above
  • You must have an interest in the water sector and be passionate about contributing to the water sector
  • You must have a strong academic record, with a minimum overall average of 60%
  • You must have proven financial need

Postgraduate Bursary:

  • You must be studying towards a Honours, Masters, or PhD qualification within one of the fields listed above
  • You must have a strong academic record, with a minimum overall average of 65%
  • You must be studying or enrolled at a university in South Africa
  • You must be committed to contributing to the water sector
  • You must have a research proposal that is relevant to the water sector, in any discipline
