Bursaries Closing in September 2026 South Africa

If you are in need of tertiary funding for the 2027 academic year, a bursary is the perfect way to fund your studies. Most bursaries are applicable to students who can prove they are in financial need, have a good academic record and are hard working.

SA Bursaries, South Africa’s largest bursary website, has compiled a list of bursaries for you – these bursaries are currently open for application and will be closing within the month of September 2026.

Below you will find a link to each bursary with further information such as the following: eligibility requirements, details on how to apply, application forms where available or details on how to obtain an application form, a list of supporting documents required, closing dates and contact details of the bursary holder if you have any further queries.

(Please remember that the bursary closing date means the LAST day you can apply – do NOT apply for these bursaries after the stipulated closing date).

STUDENT LOANS (FOR PARTNER INSTITUTIONS)

SA Bursaries has partnered with a student loan provider, to help students across South Africa access affordable student loans — making it easier to start or continue your studies without financial barriers.

They offer student loans to students who may have been rejected by a traditional bank.

STUDENT ACCOMMODATION FOR WITS AND UP STUDENTS

Are you a University of the Witwatersrand (Wits) or University of Pretoria (UP) student still looking for a room close to campus? There are still some rooms available for 2026, at discounted rates (starting at R5,200).
