SASSA Payment Dates for 2026 & 2027
The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) is a government agency which distributes social grants to millions of recipients in South Africa. For many, their SASSA grant is their sole source of funds to sustain themselves.
If you are a SASSA beneficiary or know of someone who is, you may be wondering when your grant payments will be made.
Below is a list of the SASSA payment schedule for 2026 and 2027.
When will SASSA Grants be paid?
SASSA Payment dates for June 2026:
- 2 June 2026: payment date for Older Persons Grant
- 3 June 2026: payment date for Disability Grant
- 4 June 2026: payment date for Child Support Grant
- 5 June 2026: payment date for other grant types (except SRD grant)

Where can I collect my SASSA grant payment?
SASSA beneficiaries can receive their SASSA payments from selected supermarkets, such as Pick n Pay, Boxer, USave merchants, Checkers and Shoprite.
They can also choose to receive their funds to their SASSA card, CashSend, or by getting the amount directly transferred into their bank account.
Types of SASSA grants and amounts
SRD Grant
- The SRD (Social Relief Distress Grant) is for those living in South Africa (between 18 and 60 years old), who are unemployed and do not receive any funds to support themselves.
- Recipients of this grant cannot be receiving any social grants, must not be contributing/ eligible for UIF payment, and must not receive over R624 into their account each month.
- The amount for this grant is R370 per month.

Child Support Grant
- The CSG is for a the child’s primary caregiver (i.e. parent, grandparent, or child over the age of 16 leading the family), who earn under a certain amount (known as the means test).
- Recipients will receive R580 per month, for each child. If you are a primary caregiver for an orphaned child, you will receive R830 per month for each child (the R580 CSG and the R250 top-up).

Foster Child Support
- The foster child grant is for recipients who care for a foster child.
- The child must have been placed in their care by the court as a result of being orphaned, abandoned, abused, at risk, or neglected.
- The foster child grant is R1 290 per month.

Care Dependency Grant
- The care dependency is grant is for individuals who are looking after children with severe disabilities that may require full-time and special care.
- The care dependency grant is R2 400 per month.

Disability Grant
- The disability grant is for individuals who have a mental and/or physical disability that inhibits them from working for longer than 6 months.
- The grant can be for a temporary disability or a permanent disability.
- The maximum grant amount for a disability grant is R2 400 per month.

Older Person’s Grant
- The Pensioners Grant is for individuals who are over 60 years old.
- The older persons grant is R2 400 per month, for recipients below 75 years old and R2 420, for recipients over 75 years old.

Grant-In-Aid
- The Grant-In-Aid is for individuals who are living on a social grant but cannot look after themselves.
- They will receive this additional grant to pay the person who takes full-time care of them, which equates to R580 per month.

War Veteran’s Grant
- The War Veteran’s Grant is for recipients who are formal soldiers that fought in the Second World War (1939 to 1945) or the Korean War (1950 to 1953) and are unable to financially support yourself.
- They will receive this grant that equates to R2 420 per month.

Notes about SASSA payments
- The above payment amounts are the current amounts as of 1 April 2026 – amounts are subject to change in April and October every year.
- Candidates that are receiving an Older Persons/ Pensioners grant or Disability grant, will receive payment of all their grants linked to their account first, while other grant recipients will be paid 1 or 2 days later.
- Only qualifying beneficiaries will receive the relevant social payouts each month.
